Kinshasa DRC.In the poor neighborhoods of Kinshasa 'les sapeurs congolais' attract a lot of attention. The young dandies dress up in elegant western fashion. They have their own philosophy, ?la sapologie? which means always look as fashionable as possible. Many think they're just lazy bums trying to make money with their looks. For them their eccentric way of life is an escape from the daily misery of life in poverty stricken Kinshasa. .The word Sapeur comes from SAPE a French acronym for Societe des Ambianceurs et Persons valegants or Society of Revellers and Elegant People and it also means to dress with elegance and style.
